My dear friend Colleen got married this past weekend, and I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of it. First of all, she is one of my most favorite people. Also, the ceremony took place in the breathtaking chapel at Davis & Elkins college in Elkins, WV, of which the architect was Colleen’s late father. There are about three dozen reasons why I loved this wedding so much, but here are a few.
Seating in the round. In my humble opinion, all places of worship should feature seating in the round. But what do I know.

The happy couple. Colleen doesn’t cry. With the exception of her wedding day, apparently. I was so happy to see them so happy.

Sun flare. It was readily available.

That stained glass in the background is from Blenko. It matches their perfectly blue eyes.

Toms. The whole wedding party (and some other friends and family) wore Toms Shoes. You’re looking at 12 pairs of shoes to children in need in one photo, folks.

I really, truly, loved this building. If I were planning my wedding today, this is where I’d want it.

Paper lanterns. I just have a thing for them.

Finally: Square dancing. They had lots and lots of real-live square dancing at the reception. It got everyone up off their feet having a blast, and was equally fun to photograph.

Last weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Hilton Head for the Murphy-Bloomfield wedding. It was the smallest wedding I’ve photographed (about 25 guests), and despite the un-cooperative weather early on, the ceremony was absolultely lovely, the portraits relaxed, and the bride just beautiful. I was just sad I didn’t have time to stay on the island an extra day (or 10).

My mother-in-law has about three different planters full of these hens and chicks, and I just loved the texture of them. So I converted it to a high-contrast black and white, had it printed on this really cool metallic paper, and hung it in my bathroom. But I didn’t want my houseguests to be the only people to enjoy it. So I turned it into desktop backgrounds for you to enjoy, if you happen to like it as much as I do.
To make the image your desktop background, click on the links below for the image size you want to use on your computer. The image will open in a new window. You can either drag the image onto your desktop and set it as your wallpaper manually, or right-click on the image and choose “Set as desktop background.”
